8-25 Fall semester COVID-19 testing
Dear Members of the Providence College Community,
The President’s Cabinet has approved the following COVID-19 testing plan for the beginning of the fall semester. This plan is subject to change as conditions may warrant.
ON-CAMPUS TESTING FACILITY
PC’s Asymptomatic Testing Center is now located in the former Mural Lounge space in Raymond Hall. The hours will be 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays and access will be limited.
SYMPTOMATIC TESTING
Students experiencing COVID-19 symptoms should contact the Student Health Center at x2422 to make arrangements for testing in a clinical setting. On weekdays after 4:30 p.m. and weekends, students should call Public Safety at x2391.
Symptomatic faculty and staff members are asked to contact their healthcare provider or access a state-run COVID-19 testing site.
ASYMPTOMATIC TESTING
Vaccine-exempt and partially vaccinated students are required to test twice weekly (Mondays and Thursdays) at the Asymptomatic Testing Center. Partially vaccinated students will continue in testing until 14 days after the final dose of an authorized vaccination protocol.
These members of the faculty and staff are required to test once weekly (Mondays or Thursdays) at the Asymptomatic Testing Center:
- Vaccine-exempt employees
- Partially vaccinated employees (those who are not 14 days past their final dose of an authorized vaccination protocol)
- Employees who have not uploaded vaccination documentation to the College’s secure database
- Employees who have not been approved for an exemption prior to the Oct. 1 deadline
FIELDWORK STUDENTS
Vaccinated fieldwork students, i.e., those involved in in-person student teaching or similar required field placements, are allowed to access testing once per week.
CLOSE CONTACTS
Vaccinated students and employees identified as close contacts through the College’s contact tracing system are encouraged to be tested at the on-campus facility 3-5 days after their last exposure to an infected person. You will be notified if you have been identified as a close contact.
